Mobile phone-based donation service facilitates contributions from anywhere, at any time

Helping abused and neglected children is now as easy as sending a text message.

Anyone who has a mobile phone can now send a $5 or $10 donation to the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter by texting “CHILD5” or “CHILD10” to 20222, respectively. Donors may give multiple times a month, depending on the carrier. Donations are tax-deductible, and pledges are billed through monthly cell phone bills. Messaging and data rates may apply. The new service is made possible by a grant from ADR Homes by Roth.

“We are thrilled that supporting a cause like Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter can be made as simple as a text message,” said Linda Phillips, Director of Development for the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter. “We rely heavily on the support of our community, more now than ever before, since we have recently increased our capacity from 32 beds to 48 beds. The simple fact is that caring for more children means we need more money to supply their needs. Therefore, we want to do everything we can to make the process of giving more convenient and efficient.”

Once a person makes his or her first text message donation, a one-time donation ($5 for those texting “CHILD5” and $10 for those texting “CHILD 10”) will be added to his or her mobile phone bill or deducted from his or her prepaid balance. All charges are billed by and payable to the donor’s mobile service provider. Service is available on most carriers. Donations are collected for the benefit of the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter by the Mobile Giving Foundation and are subject to the terms found at www.hmgf.org/t. Messaging and Data rates may apply. Donors may unsubscribe at any time by texting “STOP” to short code 20222. Donors may text “HELP” to 20222 for help.
