WHERE THE HURT
 CAN BEGIN TO HEAL

WELCOME!

Nothing tells the story of the Children's Shelter better than the words of our children. We know that we are doing important work with the children we serve. Occasionally former residents will come back to visit and let us know what the Shelter has meant in their lives. Please take a moment to view the video and hear, in their own words, what the Shelter means to them.

Bright blue skies provided the perfect setting for staff, current and past board members, volunteers, and friends of the NWA Children's Shelter as they broke ground November 19th on the Shelter's future home.

The new complex will feature a 42,000 SF emergency shelter which will house resident rooms, administrative offices and the school; an 18,000 SF recreation center with a full-court gymnasium and several multi-purpose rooms, and a 5,600 warehouse/maintenance building.

During the brief ceremony, founding board members reflected on the tremendous amount of work that was done and the obstacles that were overcome to open the Shelter in 1993. Director Tim Nichols and Board President David Atwood talked about the future and the possibilities that lie ahead for the Shelter and the children we will be able to serve.

Excitement and amazement were evident among those in attendance, as they looked out over the site of the new complex. "It's hard to believe this day is finally here" was a sentiment shared by all.

Construction on the new facility is expected to be
completed in the spring of 2011.

DID WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIFE?

Even though we often witness many positive changes in children’s lives and behavior during their stay at the Shelter, it means a lot to us to when former residents take the time to tell us in their own words about the impact we have had on their life. If you were affected in a positive way by your stay at the Shelter and are willing to share your story with us, please drop us a note by mail, or email us at
frankie@nwacs.org.

We would love to hear from you!
