Beer & Carols presented by the Mahoney Family Foundation is our signature winter event: a holiday singalong like no other!

All of your favorite Christmas Carols and holiday hits will be led by the Beer & Hymns Band, joined by guest horn and string players from around NWA. We’ll eat, drink, sing, and be merry while we support the work of the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter. All ages are welcome. Wear an ugly sweater or tacky holiday outfit for a chance to win prizes! (Group Prize and Individual Prize to be awarded).

WHAT TO EXPECT

4:45 – Doors open with drinks and jazz by the Matt Nelson Combo.

5:15 – Welcome from Beer & Hymns and our title sponsor

5:20 – The singalong begins! We’ll learn about the amazing work of the NWA Children’s Shelter, we’ll sing and dance our hearts out, we’ll laugh as we pick the most festive costumes of the night, we’ll take pictures with Santa, and we’ll raise life-changing funds in support of our December charity.

7:45 – Raise your glass and raise your voices as we wrap up the night.

FOOD AND DRINK
Hors d’oeuvres and 1 drink ticket are included with the price of admission. Cash bar is available all night.

CHARITY
Our charity for the month of December is the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter. They provide hope, every day, to the most vulnerable children in our community. Your ticket price and 100% of donations go directly to the shelter.

Meet Seth

Seth* had a tough beginning in life. His mother was not someone who could be trusted or relied upon. Because of her own struggles with drug abuse and mental health, she couldn’t provide the very basics of care for Seth. As a young child, Seth was raised, off and on, by his grandparents. However, when they passed away, he was forced to return to his mother’s care.

Frightened and alone, doing what he could to survive without any support at home, Seth found himself in a downward spiral.

That’s when he arrived at the Shelter. When Seth walked through the doors of the Shelter, he was scared, angry and withdrawn. He kept his hood up and wasn’t comfortable with eye contact, personal communication or any acts of love or affection.

He wasn’t used to being surrounded by adults focused on meeting his needs. He had raised himself for most of his life. Within the safety of the Shelter, he had to learn how to trust.

While at the Shelter, Seth was able to recover his high school credits and graduate on schedule. He learned many new life skills, such as laundry, cooking, cleaning and money management. He is currently living independently, enjoying a new job and looking forward to starting college in the spring. His future is much brighter because of the care he received at the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter.

The Shelter felt like a family to me – always helping me when I needed it and making me feel at ease. I might be leaving, but a part of me is staying.

The best thing that I love about the Shelter is the acceptance. No matter where any of us came from, we are accepted here.

While at the Shelter, I went from an 8th grade math level to almost a 12th grade level. I’m pretty proud of that.
